The terms, in plain English

Who we are

What you get
- A new personalised story every month, painted with your child as the hero.
- Your first story as soon as you join, usually ready within a few minutes.
- A library in your account where you can read every story and download it as a PDF.
- 15% off every hardcover while you are a member (£29.74 instead of £34.99).
One membership is for one child. Each story you receive is yours to keep, even after your membership ends.
Prices and payment
- Monthly: £6.99, taken when you join and then every month.
- Yearly: £59, taken when you join and then every year.
Payments are taken by card through our payment provider, Stripe. The price you see is the price you pay, with no extra charges.
Renewing and reminders
Your membership renews automatically at the same price until you cancel. We email you 14 days before every yearly renewal, and monthly members get a reminder at least every 6 months, so a payment never comes as a surprise. If we ever change our prices, we will tell you at least 30 days before, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time in your account: open Story Club and choose Cancel. It takes about a minute. You can also email us. Your membership then carries on until the end of the time you have paid for, with no more payments, and you keep every story you have received.
Changed your mind?
When you join, we ask you to agree that we can paint your first story straight away. Within 14 days of joining, or of a yearly renewal, you can still tell us you have changed your mind. We will end your membership and refund what you paid, less £6.99 for each story you have already received.
If a payment does not go through
We email you and try again several times over the next couple of weeks, and you can update your card in your account at any time. If payment still fails, your membership ends. You keep every story you have received.
The stories
We choose each month's story from our books and plan them ahead, and we never send the same story twice. A new story arrives on the 1st of each month, and we email you when it is ready.
Gifts
A gift is £59, paid once. It gives 12 months of Story Club from the day it is redeemed and does not renew. Please redeem it within 12 months of the day it was sent. If it has not been redeemed, the buyer can ask for a full refund within 14 days of buying it.
Your child's photo and details
We use your photo once, to paint your child as a storybook character, and delete the photo within 7 days. For members we keep only the painted character, so we can paint your child into each new story. We keep it while you are a member and for 3 months afterwards in case you rejoin, then delete it. You can delete your child's character and details from your account at any time.
If something is not right
Email us and we will put it right. These terms do not affect your legal rights. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, and if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
