In a castle on a hill lived Princess Amara, who loved the stars more than anything. Every night, she counted them from her window. One, two, three… all the way to a hundred!

But tonight, one star was missing. Tap, tap, tap! A tiny star-fairy called Twinkle was at the window. "A little star has fallen out of the sky," she whispered. "Only a brave and kind princess can bring it home."

Twinkle gave Amara a glowing map. As soon as the sun came up, Princess Amara packed a bag with biscuits and set off through the castle gates.

The map led her into the Whispering Woods, where the trees were so tall they tickled the clouds. Rabbits peeped out to say hello, and bluebells nodded as she passed.

Beside a babbling stream sat a little green dragon, with one big tear rolling down his nose. "I'm Pip," he sniffed. "I'm too scared to fly, and now I'm lost."

Amara sat down next to Pip and shared her very best biscuit. "Being brave doesn't mean you're not scared," she said. "It means you try anyway. Let's try together."

Pip took a deep breath, flapped his wings… and up, up, up they went! Higher than the castle towers, until the whole kingdom looked like a tiny toy town.

The map glowed brighter and brighter, until they landed by the Crystal Lake. There, on the silvery shore, lay the little lost star.

The little star was cold and very dim. Its light had almost gone out. So Amara picked it up, held it close, and sang it the lullaby her mum sang every night.

And then, the little star began to glow! Brighter, and brighter, and BRIGHTER, until it lit up the whole lake like a lantern.

Pip flew her to the top of the very tallest hill. Amara lifted the star high, and with a whoosh and a twinkle, it floated all the way home to the sky.

Now, every night, one star shines a little brighter than all the rest. It's saying goodnight to Princess Amara, the bravest, kindest princess in the whole wide world.
